Hi,
Boy am i glad this sight is here, today I get a phone call from a Ranae Ward from Ellis Crosby and Associates saying I am going to court if i don't take this one time offer and pay back the loan advance I took out from e-payday. The original loan was for $200 and Ellis,Crosby and Associates told me that I owe them $515. E-payday has already taken $360 out of my checking account, I think that's enough. If I don't answer Ellis Crosby and Associates will i go to court? Do I need a lawyer? Can I sue them for harassment for calling me at work?

teresa-
Yes you can sue for harrasment, pain and suffering.

I had the same problem last month. I too paid the loan but they calle me saying I owed 575. I told them I could only give them 200 now an the rest when I get paid. They also told me I needed a lawyer that charges were to be filed against me to county I live in. In the mean time they called my job told me that an officer would be there to arrest me if I did not make the payment. I paid them off and they told me that I would get a letter. That was 7/15 To now I have not received a letter. I am going to call them tomorrow to talk to the idiot who threaten me to death. What I would do is call the original people you did the loan with and talk to them not the ellis crosby people. They are snakes.

Good Luck.
Gen

Please contact Summer Saladino, she works for the Attorney Generals office in Florida and I called to find out where I can complain and I described my situation to her and before I said who I was complaining about, she already knew!!! She said that numerous people have been complaining about them and they are looking to take action against them but they need sworn statements. This means she'll send you some documents, you write your complaint and then get it notorized and send it back. This is our chance to get back at the company that has us stressed out, scared and at our wits end. YOUR HELP IS NEEDED!!!

I received a phone call today from one of Ellis Crosby and Associates "investigators" and they told me that I needed to pay $515 today or that they were going to file charges against me and arrest me. Can anyone share any insight on if they are capable of doing that to people?

No they cannot do anything to you, Next time they call tell them not to call you.

WOW i really bet they are having a hard time getting people to pay because of this site. I mean 30 some odd people comeon here and share their experiences and none of us will pay until they shape up their act.

This same company called my job an were extremely rude, but you can't get intimidated, instead get educated.Take avantage of this opportunity to become wiser. I guess I am a born fighter. I complained to the better business bureau, money gram(wire transfer company), the ACA and I gave my boss a heads up so she would be prepared if someone called her. I also have a workmens comp case and had my attorney call them, but of course ellis and crosby rep was in a conference meeting. yeah right. my attorney is waiting for their return call. also remember every state has legal aid to assist people with legal questions even if you do not have a lot of money. They would not even answer any questions and would not tell me their business name so I contacted money gram and gave them the receive code and sure enough it is under ellis and crosby. This website has put me at ease. The phone number for moneygram is 800 moneygram.. i also reported it to ifccfbi.gov ...it's the fbi's website and i gave them the name of this website so they can see it is many victims. i urge as many of you to complain to the fbi
website to make a point and shut down this company and if you complain to moneygram or their wire tranfer company ,they can't get funds.

Thank you for the information. I made a complaint with the FTC yesterday and the gentleman I spoke to gave me the FTC website so that I could educated myself on right and wrong practices of collection agencies. I also put in a phone call to the Florida Attorney General office. I plan to pay only what I owe and nothing more. Thanks everyone!

I haven't gotten any more phone calls since yesterday from Ellis Crosby and Associates. They called me once and told me I had until 3pm or they were filing charges and I haven't heard back from them since. Does this mean they have given up?

I am a paralegal in a Central Florida law firm. I was telephoned at work by a nasty femal representative of this collection agency. When I asked her why she was speaking in such a hostile tone of voice and trying to intimidate me, she replied, "Ma'am, if I wanted to really intimiate you, I'd just go ahead and sign a subpoena and send it to your law firm. Now what do you think?" I countered, "Well, unless you have a damned J.D. on your wall, you certainly won't be signing any subpoena. In fact, I'm not even a direct employee of my lawfirm, I'm a subcontractor. Further, I'm glad I wrote down your name and extension since I'll be contacting the state attorney general and leting them know of your blatant violations of the Fair Debt Collection Act. Now, let's see if you want to be stupid enough to call me again at work. Since you've already been so very kind in providing me your firm's facsimile number, you can immediately expect a cease and desist letter. I'm so hopefuly you enjoy the rest of your day." Then I just hung up. MAKE SURE YOU GET THE INDIVIDUAL'S NAME AND EXTENSION!

Well, here's another name to add to the Ellis Crosby & Associates list ..... Paul Klein. I have a payday loan with a company and because of family illness I have not been able to pay it back as quickly as they would like. So ... they turned it over to these idiots. Well this Klein guy called me at work today, told me I had to send $680 (for a $300 pdl), and if I didn't do it by 3PM they would have me arrested. So, I tried to make payment arrangements with them ... $380 on Friday and the balance in two weeks. Well Mr Klein kept telling me to hold on, he had to talk to the person at the "bank" I took the loan from. I asked for that person's name and telephone # and my request was refused. After three telephone calls to Mr. Klein, he finally answered and said he would call me back in 10 minutes ... that was 4 hours ago. Then I found this website. I called Mr. Klein back, told him that I wanted, in writing, the amount that I owed, the company I owed it to, and a contact name at that company. I also told him not to call my office any more, that I had found out that Ellis Crosby & Associates had been expelled from ACA International, that they have had 86 complaints about their practices to the BBB, and that I was going to call the Attorney General's office because what they were doing was nothing less than threatening and harrassment. I will call Sandra Saladino and request whatever paperwork I need to sign to put these people in their place.

If I have payment arrangements ith these folks should I continue to pay them or stop and contact the attorney general. I was very clear with them that I knew my rights, I would not be abused, sent a cease and disist letter and also a debt validation.

Cyndi,

Do you still have Ellis Crosby's fax number? I am drafting a cease and desit letter that I intend to send certified mail, but I would love to fax it to them as well. I had a horrible incident with a man from Ellis Crosby & Associates today 8/25/05. To make a long story short, he repeatidly threatened me with arrest and insisted an "officer" was standing by to pick me up and "process" me for internet and check fraud. He refused to tell me who he was with and wouldnt answer simple questions like who the creditor was, what I owed them and who he was representing. When I told him I was going to begin recording the conversation he responsded that I was "evading" and "trying to control the conversation", then he hung up. I filed a formal complaint today with my (Texas) Attorney General's office and the Florida's office too. Not to mention the BBC and FTC. Florida's Attorney general is even suing them, the press release was posted just yesterday on their wesite.

Thanks
Tracy

While I was out trying to get this money (b4 I saw this site)he called my job 3x in 2hrs!! The reason I could lose my job is because as an insurance agent if I am charged w/any kind of fraud and convicted I lose my licenses and cannot act as an insurance agent w/o them. I called him bk when I got bk to work and advised him I wasnt making the pmnt to them today and that I had gotten some advise on how to handle this and was going another route. He hung up on me. Im just worried about the legal ramifications. Has anyone actually gotten any resolution?

Can we sue them? That would be on hell of a class action suit.

To Roxette and Everyone Else ! Thank You. I sent a Cease & Desist letter and a debt validation letter to Ellis Crosy & Associates via Certified Mail. Since my voice mail message to "Mr. Klein", I have not heard from them again. I would love to join in on a class action law suit. I have every intention of paying this debt, but I will pay it to the lending company, not Ellis Crosby & Associates.

Everyone in here can dog someone for the way they practice their ways. Now if we read the little lines in these documents you sign, or esign. You wouldnt get in these little situations.. As far as the debt goes people always have money they could put toward their bills but mostly its outta mind and outta sight. Sometimes these threating/harrassing calls are wake up calls to get your ducks in a row and handle your business...

I hope our (guest) realize everyone is not trying to get out of paying their bills. The fact is people want to pay their bills but they also want to live and you can't judge anyone. How do we know you pay your bills? Circustances arises in our lives where we sometimes can't pay our bills and again its not that we don't want to pay our bills. We just want to pay the correct amount, make arrangements to pay on the bill. No one and I mean no one has the right to threaten and harass anyone when collecting a debt. You need to know the law. It was established so we as (Americans) can operate in order.

I have also been a victim, with a man named Corpowitz saying he was the District Attorney and I would be arrested if I didnt pay $515 in 24 hours. I only owed $30 and just forgot about it! I stupidly sent the money because I am getting a degree in Sociology and if I have and fraud charges I wont be able to obtain my certification. I have no money to pay my rent this month because Im a full time student and work full time but dont make that much. I am interested in getting a class action suit going and am looking for others who wish to do the same. This threatening and harassing behavior has got to stop somewhere and I think this may be a way to put these heartless people out of business for good!

Nikki I believe a class action law suit is what the state of florida is working on right now. They are taking information from everybody and anybody that has had dealing with Ellis Crosby & Assoc. They have a pending case that is currently being investigated. It is in your best interest to contact them and file a complaint in the state you live in as well. FYI: in case you guys haven't already figured this out on your own, the people at Ellis aren't using their real names, and change the name they are using often.

Really? More info, Please!
The details of such a suit could turn my potentially-bad Monday to quite exciting!

I'd like to see them get majored sued or them losing any business license they have.

Their "names" were ridiculously common...and I never got a first name...just, "This is INVESTIGATOR Sanchez." "This is INVESTIGATOR Anderson"

uh-huh....

Cyndi Pauley wrote something funny...

Quote:

They all pretend they're lawyers or investigators. I've seen these fake degrees online. I wonder if Ted Crosby got one of those. Shouldn't he know that he could lose his license. My roomate is in law school an is getting his Juris Doctor degree to become a lawyer. It's not what he wants to do, but maybe he can be one of those good collectors. Maybe not. Maybe he could be a prosecuting attorney to defend us and go after harassers like him.

I can provide a small list of extentions if anyone needs. I'm sure people have moved desk and I know Ted has taken his name off his voicemail.
