Hello: Can CA call your neighbors? I had a male collector call my neighbor yesterday asking for my phone number stating that I had given it to him but he wrote it down wrong. Which she said no way! The collector than had the nerve to call her back and very rudely yell to her" I hope you don't need help one day lady!" And hung up.
She said she wanted to tell me and would never tell my husband. I am so embarassed. We had another collector call another neighbor a few months ago asking for my husband and if he still lived there. When I called him back to complain he said he would keep doing it and call "the other neighbor on the other side" and my husband would be facing criminal charges. My husband was so paranoid we ended up just paying it off, (luckily we had the money at the time).

Hi AJ
Welcome to the forums

The collection agency cannot call your neighbors or neither can they threat them to get your contact number. You should immediately lodge a complain in FTC as the collection agency has clearly violated the fdcpa rules and regulation.

In addition they cannot force anyone to pay off the debt. Please do not stress yourself out as the law is on your side.
Hope to hear from you soon

Regards
Peter
