how many times a week is it ok for a creditor to call for you to make a payment?

As per the fdcpa law under Section 805(c), the collection calls are required to stop after they receive a written notice from you that you refuse to pay the said debt until it has been legally validated. Also, they are required to stop all the collection calls if you refuse to communicate with them.

However, a call can be made to you if it is regarding:
[list=1]

  • An advise to the consumer that the collection efforts are passed or being terminated.

  • The collection agency or the creditor can notify the consumer that he may invoke some specified remedies.

    If you keep receiving calls after they have acknowledged your written notice, you have the right to take legal action against them.
