yes you can do that
Before that you need to write a cease letter and mention "This letter should serve as your final legal notice under provisions of the fdcpa law, to cease all communication with me with respect to the debt mentioned by you".
Send this letter only via a certified mail with a return receipt request. Also keep a copy of the letter.

The fdcpa does not restrict a collection agency from contacting
The fdcpa does not restrict a collection agency from contacting any person in order to recover the debt. After you have notified them that you are not the person they are looking for, then they are required to stop contacting you at that moment.
If they keep contacting you, make sure that you send them a written notice stating that you are not interested in communicating with them because of the mentioned reason. You can also refer to a legal action if they continue with their acts and that will work for you.
Do not forget to send your letter through certified mail with return receipt requested otherwise they will put a pretext of not receiving your letter.
