hello, i am a family member for someone who is incarcerated. he will be out in two years. creditors keep calling. do you have experience dealing with this situation?

Hi Janus,

Welcome to the forums. I will suggest you to ask the person who is incarcerated to contact his creditor immediately. Many people have reported about their situation when there family members were receiving repeated phone calls and letters.

The main intention of the creditors and the bill collectors behind this act is to recover the money from the family members if they can. However, the family members are not legally responsible to pay the said bill.

Ask the person who is incarcerated to contact the creditor and inform them about the situation and that the bill cannot be paid in the present moment.

Roxette

I have a family that is incarcerated and he has debtors calling me. He is married now. I want to make small payments until he gets out of jail next year. How can I do this? Would creditors let me do this?

I was in jail when someone stole my ID. I am being sued for a credit card opened; what should I do?
