Does it go against your credit report. All I want to do is consolidate my credit cards to one payment but have not done so because I wasn't sure about the credit report.

Hi Kathleen

Welcome to the forums. debt consolidation program is designed with the main objective of reshaping your credit file. It eases the monthly payments with your creditors and also brings all the defaulted accounts in the "Current" status. All the multiple credit card bills will be combined into one loan amount and you will be paying only one loan amount at a lower rate of interest.

Debt consolidation program is appreciated by the creditors because they find you taking this responsibility of clearing off your past debt. Since they are recovering their money back, they are willing to reduce the total amount of your debt by cutting all the financial charges, late fees from it.

The consultant working in the debt consolidation program will ensure that after you have completed your payments with your creditors, your accounts are reported as "Paid in Full" or "Paid as Agreed" to the credit bureaus.

The debt consolidation program will appear in your credit report as long as you are in the program and your report will be viewed more favorably than before. You can enter into a free counseling provided by this website by registering yourself at the sign up page.
