chmartinbaby06, what you may try to do is contact the bank and make payment arrangements with them. Usually a bank will take payment arrangements and not close out the account. I have done this in the past. Hope that helps!!!!

The credit bureau is asking me to provide a birth certificate on a debt which I have already disputed as ‘Not Mine.’ What should I do in this case as I don't have the certificate? Please help!!

Welcome to the forums. Since you don't have the birth certificate, you can send a copy of your driving license if you have it. Make sure that when you send them the copy, notify them that this should not be interpreted as ???additional information' since it is not apposite to the investigation. Thus, it should not be lined within the 15 days mark laid down in the FCRA.

In banking term, this is called a ‘Balance transfer.’ This way, you can keep your rate of interest lower. If you are able to manage it, then only go for it. This becomes very difficult if it is done on a lot of different credit card balances.
