hi,
i owe united capital bank(your cash bank) $780 payday loan, they threatened me with saying they would fax my work everyday with disgusting/horrible things until i agree on paying it off. i've really been good with them , but recently have been having money problems(husband laid off, car accident, etc.) that i'm not able to, i'm waiting for our settlement to arrive and planning to pay it off, but they are threatening me that i'm getting really scared and have decided to work with them, but can they really do that if i don't pay them?

The creditors and collection agencies are restricted to follow the rules laid down in the fdcpa and if violated, legal action can be taken against them. But some of these agencies do involve in illegal activities causing harassment and mental pain. And it becomes even more painful considering the fact that you owe legitimate debt to them.
I will suggest you to advance some money to them. Doing this, they will get assured that you are taking the responsibility to clear the debt.
I hope that you realize the fact that after you have completed your payments with your creditors, your credit report will only appear clear erasing all the negative markings.
