2 years ago I took out a loan for a used car. Then I let someone borrow the car and they got it seized by the state and then the credit union changed the loan to a personal loan and now they say they are taking legal action against me because I cant pay the loan because I am unemployed and I have tried to talk to them to work something out but they just get hostile with me over the phone is there anything I can do

Since you have defaulted on the loan, the creditors will take every action perhaps, legally to recover the amount from you. They need to have papers from the court before they take any legal actions against you.

At this point, you can try to convince your creditors in every possible way that you need some time to make the payment. If you are able to assure them, I think they will stop taking actions against you.

Was this car seized because of a drug bust?

If so, then you are still liable for the loan.

You could quite possibly talk with an attorney about this, and see if he could either get the car back for you, so you could get a job and finish the payments.

Sorry to hear about the loss of the car.

Mike
