need info on removing a judgement

Hi Lewis

Welcome to the forums. If a judgment is shown in your credit report and appears legal, it is negative information which will stay in your credit report for 7 years.

If you feel that the judgment is incorrect, send a letter of dispute to the creditor asking them to verify the debt. If they are able to give the necessary information regarding your dispute, you can get it marked 'disputed' and it will be removed from your file.

If it is a valid judgment with papers obtained from the court, you need to make payment arrangements as early as possible in order to prevent further damage to your credit.
