Being close to 50 and never having had any serious debt problem I never thought twice about using all the credit cards I had!! I mean, I always made the payments on time, usually more than what was required. Have a job working with expelled kids, most of them don't have any kind of life..it was so easy to take them down to the thrift store and get them some clothes...buy this car so he could get to his job (he'd pay me back), and lets not forget about the foster kids...all of them had brothers and sisters..how could I take them snowboarding and not their siblings (even though they didn't live with me). It built for a couple of years and I saw how much debt I was accumalating from doing this and realized I had to put a stop to it. Took in no more kids, worked on paying cards off...mom got sick had to leave work for 2 months to take care of her..came back home, former foster kid came to me in emergency situation and kept him. Caused all kinds of legal problems and had to leave work again for 4 months to get him settled, no problem can pay for food and bills with credit cards and start paying again when I went back to work.. 5 months later...another former foster kid AND his new 1 yr old brother are brought to me also...Couldn't turn them away..Before I knew it...cards are maxed out, went back to work and had to leave again.. this time permanently
I know..learn to say no...really really hard with kids. I really don't have a desire for material things or need a lot of money to live. I have my animals and garden and I'm happy...but hard to say no to families that need help.
So now I'm here and I'll get it straightened out with everyones help!! Thanks thanks so much..and good luck to everyone..
Anyways..I'm here now and going to figure this out somehow!!

Wow, it sounds like you are a very giving person. Which doesn't help your money situation. But obviously that is your personality (I am the same way...whenever I have any money I always buy other people things. My advice is to keep your good heart, but maybe find less expensive activities to do. I mean I know that you probably want to give all these kids everything and bring them everywhere, but I mean if you keep going down that track, your money will run out and you won't be able to do anything with them or give them as much as you want. As for you debt, definately take advice from everyones experiences here. It is a good forum for getting information. I hope everything works out

GOOD LUCK!
