I had read somewhere on this board, that you can call your bank and have all debits stopped. If you do this will it affect online bill paying?I want to stop the payday loan people from debiting my account and send payments by mail, but Im not sure how to do this.
Thanks for your help.

Hi twokidtwocat

How are you doing? :D Hope you and your family must be keeping a good health.

In order to stop the payday loan companies from withdrawing money from your account, you need to contact them and inform about this matter. It is the responsibility of your bank to ensure your safety. As per the FDIC regulations, you are insured with the bank as long as the debits have not been authorized. The company has to take permission before withdrawing money from your account and that has to be recorded in terms of receipts. If there is no proof authorizing the debits, then your account should be credited.

You can also ask your bank to put a stop payment on the debits. That might catch you some fees but it will be worth spending in the long run.
