Is it true that the government can only garnish the amount over $750 that a person recieves from their social security benefit?

The IRS can assess up to 15percent of your social security benefit to collect past due tax bills less than 10 years old. For example, if you owed $450 in taxes and your monthly benefit is $1000, the IRS could deduct $150 directly from your social security check each month for 3 months.
The 750 dollar cap is on other Federal debts, such as
student loans, home loans done thru the federal government. They can take 50 to 65 percent out for child support.
