Does debt consolidation affect your credit if you have good credit when you start.

Hi, welcome to the forums! Yes, no matter the credit rating, starting a debt consolidation will impact your credit file slightly. But it'll also show creditors that you are working to repay your debt.

Do you mind explaining why you would want to start in such a program if you have good credit?

Regards-
Mike

xkim7,

I must say that debt consolidation helps you in the long run. If your accounts are under consolidation, it means you are not ignorant with your bills. So your future financers will look it as a positive attitude.

Once the accounts are paid in full, it will be reported to credit bureaus. It will definitely make your score better. See the consequences of debt consolidation here-

xkim7, the accounts that are included in the consolidation program will be closed during this tenure. It thus protects your account from multiplying further and becoming difficult to be paid. Once you have fully paid the debt, the accounts will be activated again and you will be able to use it in the future. Hence, you will be able to manage your financial system more efficiently and take control of your debt related problems.

Take this program without any doubts if you are having difficulties in paying off your debts. Be dedicated in making the monthly payments and you will realize its positive effects within a short period.
