Donna, call your credit card company and forward your request to them. They will make arrangements with you as you are keeping this account current.
However, try to contribute more towards the due amount. Your debt is getting added with financial and interest charges each month. If you can make large payments, you will save money in the form of interests in a period of time. Also, you will become debt free quicker.

Do you have more than one card? If so I recommend that you close your accounts and keep one open for emergencies or whatever because credit cards are crazy hard to pay off and if you are having trouble paying now and it's only going to get worse. Take it from someone who knows.

Most credit card companies will have their own internal assist/hardship programs. Consider these before making a flying leap to consolidation/credit counceling services. Bear in mind the programs may require you to close your accounts. I have an account with U.S. Bank that i was late on a payment with and they jacked my APR through the roof and called it a "penalty rate." I was current on my account but at that rate I was going to drown. I simply requested an assist program, they closed my account, and my payments were cut in half with my APR reduced to 6.5%... All you have to do is call them.

I have found that they are not willing to help if you are current, but I have found if you miss one or two payments they are more then willing to offer all kinds of great deals, like lower interest and small payments. It's a shame you have to do it this way, that's how they operate.
