Gary Barnhill from 800-741-2100 x3201 is now trying to reach me over the phone by calling my work phone number. Do they have the right to be harrassing me at my work via telephone? They left a message on my work voicemail this morning, but as usual, they do not leave a reason why they need me to get in touch with them by calling the 800 number. I heard from a friend that as soon as I make connection with any collection agency, either by writing or voice, the 7-year wait for a debt to drop from from credit report is reset. Is this true?

Thanks,

Welcome to the forums! At this point, the company is trying to make contact with you concerning the account. They cannot leave the nature of the call on a voicemail because of privacy reasons.

The company associated with that number is:

LTD Financial Services, LP
7322 Southwest Freeway
Suite 1600
Houston, TX 77074
713-414-2100 / 800-741-2100

The company is currently in good standing with the BBB, and has even been a member since 1995. They've been in business since 93.

As with any conversation, be sure to take notes. Don't accept any type of offer over the phone, but instead ask for it to be sent to you in writing. You may actually want to ask for validation first. If you feel this about to fall off your report, and it has been 7 years, you may choose to do what you wish.

Regards-
Mike
