I had an inquiry into my credit records by an employer and I only received one letter from one of the three bureaus stating that they released information. Don't the other two have to do the same? I mean I knew the employer was going to check, but I should have received something from the bureaus stating that there was an inquiry by an employer.

Inquiries made by your employer do not lower your credit scores. Also, it is not necessary for all the bureaus to report the same inquiry because they don't share information with each other.

Credit scores are actually lowered when you are shopping for credit rates. There should not be large number of inquiries in your file as it reduces your credit potential. For example, if there are six or more inquiries in your file, it means that you are putting greater risk of filing bankruptcy in comparison to those who don't have inquiries.
