Hi Shirley,

Here is what I came up with doing a search on the numbers.

Intersearch Corporation
410 Horsham Rd
Horsham, PA 19044
215-442-7094
The BBB is compiling information on this company.

Direct Contact Service
2700 W. Atlantic Blvd.
Suite 234
Pompano, FL 33069
888-399-2699
The BBB also states with this company that they are compiling info on them.

Hope this helps you.

ABC credits the poll to TNS Intersearch Corporation in Pennsylvania. A little digging reveals this:

Working with national and multi-national organizations, we help our clients to develop effective business strategies and enhance relationships with their customers. In July 2003, the group merged with NFO WorldGroup, Inc. Further information on TNS can be found on tns-global.com.???????

TNS Intersearch is a unit of UK-based market research conglomerate Taylor Nelson Sofres.
according to Hoovers ???????TNS Telecoms, a unit of UK-based market research heavyweight Taylor Nelson Sofres, provides market data and research reports to clients in the telecommunications industry. The company????????s primary clients are telecommunications service providers

The person wondering about the student loans is correct. According to the person I spoke with they act under the authority of the Justice department. The guy even said he worked for the US Marshall. (Lie)

I too receive calls from this # every day. I finally called them back (they NEVER left a message) and there was a recorded message that stated they are "TNS research group". They said they are a survey research group calling for opinion research and are not trying to sell anything.

I have received 6 calls from 215-442-7094 in the last 7 days. They don't leave any messages, and I too got the recording when attempting to call them back. I pressed # and then got another recording asking me what extension I would like. Pressing 0 at that point gets you to a very nice operator who then transferred me to leave a voice mail asking to be taken off their calling list. The voice mail however did not work, and I got another call today. I asked three times to be taken off the calling list, which is supposed to be the magic words, even if they are only doing surveys, the minute you say "take me off your calling list" they legally have to do so, however this gentleman just told me they would contact me another time and hung up. I have since filled a complaint to the BBB of Metro Washington DC & Eastern Pennsylvania, so we'll see what happens.

These people have been calling my cell phone at least once per day for about the past week. I have a minor outstanding medical bill, and a phone bill, but nothing major that would normally warrant this kind of onslaught.

Thanks to everyone for your research; I haven't answered their calls and don't intend to. Once they make contact they'll never quit, but if you don't answer I feel pretty sure they will eventually have to put you on the back burner because of contract consideration, new "leads" to work, etc. I haven't received any mail from anyone appearing to match their description...yet.

Since this it was on my business line, "cell" they said they were calling for Verizon but since this was my cell phone they didn't want to use up my minutes. I asked them again who they were and they said they were conducting a survey for verizon.

The latest call was today... I missed the call but this number 215-442-7094 shows up. I don't know anyone in PA. And, like the polite people they probably are (NOT), they don't leave a message. Oh well!

CURSE YOU AQUA SCUM! Leave me be! Thanks!

After reviewing all the posts on this and having done the due diligence research, here are a few facts to help you sort out why you're getting these calls.

1. Yes, TNS is a telemarketer research and survey business.

2. TNS is under contract to Verizon, whose business collections office is also located on Horsham, PA.

3. They are surveying deliquent, cancelled, and account holders who have had their accounts closed for failure to pay.

The information will be used by Verizon to search for new ways of approaching these customers with the intent of trying to find ways to uncover these customers before problems arise and can attempt to offer solutions to recovering and salvaging accounts, or at least limiting losses.

4. They will stop calling eventually even if you don't answer because the survey period is usually limited to ten days to two weeks. They can normally acquire enough data in that time period to assess the information and then refine the survey.

5. You can block the number in serveral ways through your carrier service, usually at no additional cost if it's a nuisance to you and there have been repeated calls from the same number. You should document the number, any caller ID info, and the date and time of each call before contacting your carrier.

6. The calls are legal even if you've placed your number on a "Do Not Call" list, even theirs. The reason is because they are calling you on behalf of the company that you have or have had an account relationship with in the recent past.

7. If you answer the, or call and leave a message, the caller for the survey has no direct information about you or your account since the calls are not a direct part of a collection effort.

Hope that helps.

And for those who will no doubt ask questions which i'll not be checking here to answer ...

I'm a researcher who conducts investigations for Dr. Robert Miller, a Ph.D. from Safeport Solutions. Most recent project for which i was involved resulted in a book called "The Credit Robbers". It's an indepth look inside the credit scoring system that determines the rates everyone pays for everything from insurance to interest rates on credit.

One of Dr. Miller's books is available free on this website and details how to avoid Identity Theft without all the crazy costs being charged for a variety of services. For example, the best thing you can do to avoid Identity Theft is to place a "Fraud Alert" on your credit profile with any of the three credit bureaus. It takes a single toll-free phone call. Anyone attempting to get credit in your name requires a security call to you for verification. The Alert lasts for 90 days but can be easily renewed with a single phone call to extend the Alert as many times as you like.

Good Luck, sorry about the annoying calls, the only thing you need to fear is fear itself. Relax and enjoy your day.

The telephone was biggest invasion of privacy ever invented by mankind. Take control of your life and avoid the phone if it is causing you any kind of stress.

Cheers, BoB

I do not have, nor have ever had, an account with Verizon.

So..tell me WHY again they are calling to survey "delinquent, canceled, and account holders who have had their accounts closed for failure to pay"?

Sounds like BS to me, and "legal" or not, I intend to prosecute.

I wish them good luck. At the very least, they will have to defend themselves.

Got a call from that # today, asked for someone I had never heard of, then asked if I was a Verizon customer..I asked "Verizon that used to be Alltel?" Operator turned to someone else and asked if Verizon was once Alltel. Then asked me if I had called Verizon about a billing question lately, I said no, She hung up, no apology, no nothing, just hung up..This call did not seem right from start to finish..
