I just got a telephone call from our CEO!

A couple of weeks ago, I helped an elderly lady pick out a new bed. She was a teeny little lady. When she came in, we sat and talked about what she needed--about how her back hurt her so bad from arthritis, and how much trouble she had getting in and out of bed.

I showed her a couple of models, and helped her pick out what was good for her....Even located a low profile frame for her, to make it easier to get in and out of bed.

Apparently, she was so happy about her experience here, she just had to write about it to our corporate office. She had been to 3 other stores before me, and was frustrated by the lack of concern she was shown.

Our CEO is sending me a check for $50 for outstanding customer service! YAY! He's even going to read the letter at the next conference call between the DM's. :) :) :)

Jessica,

Good for you ! I wish all retail stores had more people like you. I get so frustrated with lack of customer service these days. I used to work retail so I can understand the difficulty of always being concerned or friendly. I do all of my customer service on the phone now but I still try to remember to treat others as I would be treated. Keep up the good work and great things will happen for you. :D

twokidtwocat, do let us know how the visit of your CEO ended. When is he coming?

Congrats, Jessica once again for the very outstanding performance. Like I said earlier, this is just the beginning and you have your brighter years yet to come. I don't know if you will like my opinion but remember, if a person has a very good control over his/her finance and does not have a bad credit, he/she earns a lot of financial prestige. If I relate it in your case, you are young and with special talents, just don't let that bad credit hound you. KWIM!

Stay cool and lively! :D

Great job, Jessica!

It's great to know that SOMEWHERE out there in retail , there are cool chicks like you helping people out! I always seem to run into the opposite. That's why when I was in retail, I did everything I could to help out every customer....I usually ended up being walked all over unfortunately, but sometimes there is nothing you can do about that. Nice to know that you were rewarded for doing a great job!

Congrats! That's really GREAT news! In this day and age it is so hard to find someone who is willing to compliment another person. Everyone always seems so ready to complain about someone who has been rude that we forget that it's nice and can really make a deserving person feel good if we compliment them and let them know they are doing a good job!

Oh and Mary - I understand exactly what you mean - I tell my oldest son all the time - "Just do your best. If people take advantage of that, it doesn't hurt your character, it hurts theirs. And when you wake up in the morning, you can look at yourself in the mirror and know that you still came out on top."

Everyone have a great day!

It's always great to be recognized for your efforts in your job. When I used to work for the airlines, people were always quick to complain if you didn't perform the service they expected (whether it was your job or not) but when you bent over backwards to help someone they often didnt even say so much as a thank you. That is part of the reason I work for the railroad now, Coal cars don't complain.

It always made me feel good when that one person would take the time to write to the company and tell them they appreciated my efforts. The extra buddy pass was nice, but the acknowledgement really made my days.

Clay, I can understand what that feeling would have been when someone intends to hurt rather than appreciate you for your good work. I sometimes feel for the stewards or the house-keeping people in the hotels who are ordered to remain dumb for the sake of their job. Sometimes, it matters the most when someone complaints, especially when he is negligent about his own mistake. Guess that job, when you have to say thank you, please visit again, even after being badly insulted. It's very sad that humans don't get their worth in some circumstances.

jd5351, take the best wishes from my side too. You feel a sense of pride when you do something good for someone in this selfish world.

I agree,it just makes my day when a customer ask to speak to a manager, and its a compliment, not a complaint.I try to really make a big deal about it,to the assoicate who got the compliment. We should all remember to let someone know when we receive good service, not just the bad.
Oh and David,my CEO will be here the end of next week, but we are just about ready for him.
