Van Rue Credit Corporation called me at work. I'm in the field - I'm never in the office. How do I find out what they want? How do I get them to stop calling me at work? I don't even know what "account" I have with them. What kinds of accounts do they "handle"? Do they have a web site? Thanks.

Candy,

Since you are unable to speak to them at your work, you might seek help of some other at your office, if possible. Ask your co-workers to convey the message to Van Ru that you are cannot be available there, hope that stops them.

Consider sending them DV through certified mail with return receipt requested. Once they receive your letter, they should send the details of your account so that you understand which debt they are trying to collect. If you find any discrepancy in the validation, you can place a dispute on it too.

Also add one paragraph in the DV stating that you will prefer correspondences only. Mention the fact that you are not available at your office. They should honor your request. If they don't, you can report against them with FTC, BBB and AG's office.
