I did not speak to or authorize anyone to make a transaction on my bank account. Where is this and who did you talk to?

Shariest Moody,

I'm sorry to know what happened with you. You have to contact your bank immediately to know which company withdrew money from your account. Also ask your bank to stop any more unsolicited withdrawals from them in future.

Once you can locate the company, you should contact with them to know why they hit your account without your authorization. Also check if someone else is using your accounting information fraudulently or not. Watch this forum for more related information.

Stanley has given you the perfect advice. Jump on this really quick. Contact your bank or even better visit your branch and talk to a CSR. Let them know exactly what is going on.

They can even have you freeze your account but, that would prevent you from other transactions. Or for a small fee (depending on your bank) you can sign a "unauthorized debit" form or "unauthorized ach" form and this will stop any future debits from your account.

Beware sometimes these companies can still hit your account by changing there name or sequence number(this is a code that they use to deduct). These forms are only good for a specified company so if you have more than one company deducting money you need to fill a form for each and every one. These forms are good for the duration of your bank account.

I just did this last week however they still managed to come in under a different description. So just beware and keep an eye on your accout.

Also another suggestion is to try to view your account online, most banks have this option nowadays, and you can keep a closer eye on you account.

This is excellent advice!!! I check mine every day!! sometimes several times a day. Its the best way to keep a handle on whats going on with your money. And I have caught a couple of incidents where an ACH came through that I didn't authorize. One was not that long ago, just from visiting a website. I had ordered something with my debit card and next thing I know, they had tacked on some other charge that I didn't authorize! It was $9.00 but was set up to come every month!! I stopped that one cold turkey before they even got a dime. If I wasn't keeping up with my account on line, I may not have caught it til later on down the line. When I look over my bank account on line and an ACH has been taken out, they list the name and a phone number of who to reach. This is how I stopped mine in their tracks. shirley

Good suggestion by mitsuac. Watching bank account is important and it is very simple now with the advent of online banking.

Another important thing is watching credit report. It helps to locate any fraudulent charges or incorrect information quickly. Once you identify the bug, you can take your next step to remove it.

Right on Stan! That is why I'm thinking of doing the 3 in 1 monitoring so I can catch anything that suddenly pops up and try to 'nip it in the bud'. I'm not sure yet, still thinking on it. Do you do it and do you recommend it? Or would I do better just pulling my report here and there and checking on it that way? thanks, shirley

Hi Shirley :)

I actually had the 3 in 1 monitoring quite a while back. Honestly, I think that you know your credit report well enough that you don't need the monitoring service. You KNOW to check your personal information each time you pull a credit report. You KNOW when there is an account that isn't yours. I definitely recommend it to somebody that is new to the situation, but you are very well versed in managing your credit report. Just my two cents!! Maybe down the road when you are fully out of debt and all your accounts are straightened out, it would be a good idea so you don't have to keep such a close eye, but for now I think you are doing it just right. :)
