So you have to consult a lawyer/advisor to know if your medical bills come under contract or open account.

It's really difficult to remember such old stuffs. Why don't you visit a lawyer or advisor with all the papers you have and know if the SOL has expired or not. It will be easier for them to respond to you after reviewing the papers. Keep us posted.
