Okay guys, I got this straight out of the horses mouth. In case some of you didn't know this, I thought I would go ahead and post it for knowledge purposes. I had wondered 'how' the bureaus conducted their investigations concerning our disputes. I wasn't sure to what degree they went.

well, I am having problems with a creditor-Dell- and with the collection agencies that are holding these accounts. No one will validate---everytime I ask for validation, the accounts keep getting passed around, except Oxford seems to be standing ground-yet I have asked them three times for validation and haven't gotten it. I put a cease and desist on them and they still call a couple of times a day. Its so messed up. Theres been changes on my credit report (with ONE bureau) showing 0 balance (was showing a balance before) and status as "payment after charge off". So I take it that this means they've been sold. I can't Dell to talk to me, I can't get CAs to talk to me. Its just a mess. I have disputed this with the credit bureaus over and over again, til I know they're sick of me. I don't know which collection agencies are involved now, nor do I know if Dell still has these accounts or has sold them off. I have been emailing dell and shes sooo busy and so confused by all of this, she doesn't even know where to start. I have sent all CAs and Dell certified return receipts letters over and over again-(enough to pay for a cruise)--haven't heard anything back.

So to cut through the chase here. I disputed with credit bureaus, asked them to show me the validation they received from Dell on these accounts. I explained that obviously they are validating to the bureaus but not to me. where this is a catch 22 for me is, Dell is the original creditor and listed on my credit report but NO collection agencies are listed. I guess because I continue to ask for validation. me asking Dell for validation doesn't work since they are the original creditor--this only pertains to the collection agencies.

In any event--I just found out today-out of the horses mouth--that the bureaus only do a verification check on the account you're disputing. Meaning, the Federal Trade commission does not require that the bureaus obtain documentation such as signed sales slips, signature cards, contracts, etc. Nor are they mediators or negotiators in account disputes.

Of course Dell is the original creditor, they have nothing to prove except to say its mine, its the Collection agencies that would have to prove validation and they're not on my report. Its a catch 22---its good but its also bad.

An account can only be reported once, so if dell continues to report the accounts, the Collection Agencies are required to remove their reports. In order for them to report dell has to sign away their right to report. IF both are reporting then the CA's are in violation of the FCRA for duplicate reporting.
