I had a collection agency contact me stating that if I did not pay balance in full today that they were going to process me and have me arrested for fraud. I have made payments on this account and the total due is only $150 but when your a single mother of two with not a great income it makes it hard. Can they really say these things or are they just trying to scare me?

No they can't say these things, and they can't put you in jail.

No they can't say these things, and they can't put you in jail. No worries. Just stay strong and they'll give in and let you make payments if they want their money bad enough. :)

Susan, talk to your original creditor and see if you can make payment arrangements with them. It might be possible that the collection agency has been hired for this purpose. You can explain your problems to the creditor and arrange payments with them directly. You won't have to deal with the CA anymore.

Susan, relax.. make sure that you owe the debt they are collecting? if you do and agre with the amount then david's advice is stellar. If you aren't sure then you haev a right to get more information before you pay. If you need to know more let me know
