are post dated checks considered bad check writing?

Post dated checks are never considered as bad checks. They cannot bring any legal action against you for post dated checks.

We sold our place on a land contract and the guy sent 1 year of post dated checks now he says he is not paying us any more money. One check has bounced and the next one there is not enough money in the account. Is this against the law?

If a post dated check is cashed on the day it is suppose to be cashed, then it is treated just like any other check. Guess he didnt complete the land contract by paying it.

I hope you didn't sign the deed over to him when he gave you the post-dated checks, did you???

Oh my this can be a situation. Looks like you could take him to civil court for breaking his payment agreement. I hope you had him sign a contract including the payment arrangements.

Sorry you're going through this, OP. It's obvious this man wasn't keeping his word. yes.....you CAN take him to court. When someone writes you a check, you just ASSUME it's gonna clear ( talking outloud here, I guess).
