SOL Medical Bills

What is the SOL on medical bills? I seriously have medical bills on my credit report that are at least 5-6 years old. I sometimes get letters in the mail on these from debt collectors. Me being the avoidance queen that I am, simply chuck them in the circular file, without opening them.
Thanks for your insights:)

You probably signed some kind of written agreement to pay the bills when you were admitted. That makes it a written contract, so the SOL is whatever your state law says it is for written contracts. Most state codes are available on websites operated by the state legislature or judiciary, but you can probably find a printed copy (which is, in some ways, easier to use) in the reference department of your public library, and in the law library at the courthouse. You might call the office of the local bar association and ask them where the nearest publicly accessible law library is, when it's open, etc.
