I just got a call from One Step Cash trying to get me to loan again. I am so glad I found this site, because I was able to say no this time. Thanks to you all!

Heather =)

I read all the information about sites warning against payday loans but still went ahead and took out the loans. You never know how bad the loans are until you take them out. hopefully more people stuble across this site before deciding to take out payday loans.

Hello,

I have an account with OneStepCash as well. I borrowed $300 from them and have already paid $390 to them. They keep e-mailing/calling me saying I have a debt of $90 that will go to collections if I don't pay promptly. I don't understand, because on my payday, they took $300 AND $90 so I thought I was done with...I didn't even authorize fof them to take out the 'principle' amount but they did so I was like 'oh well'. But now they are saying I missed a payment of a finance charge of $90 so I owe that...What the heck...What should I do? Does anyone know the address to these clowns?
Thanks!

sounds like fraud and you should contact them by phone first and ask why they have debited your account even though you have already paid. Maybe you missed a payment date once so they are trying to collect on a past payment that you missed or was returned to them? I have had it happen where I was so overdrawn in my checking account so a payment was returned and I didn't realize it until the next pay period when their fee was debited twice. I called the company and they said the last payment didn't go through, so they debited it twice the following paydate. I am so glad I'm getting out of debt with these people soon!!

Hello Seeing,
Yes, I do remember they tried to debit my account and there was none at the time because I got paid the day after they tried to debit the account. Do State laws regarding payday loans play into this factor? cuz I know in Washington State, the fee is only allowed to be 15% in finance fees up to $500 and they already charged me a $90 finance charge. I sent them an e-mail but to my surprise, no e-mail response back.

Same thing here. I actually called the 800 number listed for the company and spoke with a girl named wendy. She told me that I didn't even have an account and that I was declined for a loan when I applied. I was really confused. Then, I received an email from a guy by the name of Matt. I called and left a message on his voicemail today. I'll see if he calls me back tomorrow. If anyone else needs to contact them, try Matt at 800-689-6140. I'll keep ya'll posted!!

They are actually pretty nice to work with. I called and told them that I wanted to make payment arrangements to pay off my loan. They were very nice agreed to let me pay off my $300 loan + the $90 finance charge at $50 bi-weekly. I have paid $100 so far and will be paid in full by June. The guy I talked to was Chase...he was very helpful. I did not default, but called them to make this arrangement last month.

This is the e-mail that I received from One Step Cash:
Quote:

Your original loan was for 300.00 loan fee is 90.00, you paid 90.00 on 12/9/05, which didn????????t go towards you loan, so you go a 25.00 late fee on 12/21/05, so of course you are suppose to refinance 4 times before paying down on the 5th time, so again we tried to debit a refinance charge of 90.00 on 01/6/06 that came back to my office as an NSF, so when that happen we added that on to the 390.00 which makes 480.00, the reason why you got a late fee of 25.00 on 12/21/05 is because you deferred you payment until 01/6/06, when we was suppose to debit the 90.00 on that day, so if you add 480.00 plus 25.00, bal is 505.00, ok then I spoke with you on 01/3/06 you wanted to refinance for 90.00, but it came back as an NSF, I never added anymore fees to this acct, then again you called in on 01/18/06 and set up 4 payments of 126.25 starting on 01/20/06 then biweekly on paydays, you never did it, you called again on 01/23/06 and set up 4 credit card payments of 126.25 starting on 01/23/06 then biweekly, I ran one through on 01/23/06 and it cleared, which brought your bal to 378.75, then biweekly from that date I ran another one for 126.25 on 02/6/06 and I cleared which brought your bal to 252.50, then the 20th on Feb we never go anything which kept your bal the same, then we started to email each other back and forth , we came to the agreement that you will do 4 credit card payments of 63.12 on 03/17/06 then biweekly on paydays, we ran that on 03/17 for 63.12 and it cleared which brought you bal to 189.38, then I talked to you on 03/31/06, you made arrangements for you to do 3 money gram payments 2 for 63.12 and 1 for 63.14, we never received anything, I talked to you on 04/14, you called in and said that you will money gram the payments we had set up before starting on 04/28 then biweekly on paydays. I gave you a reminder call this morning and again you are saying that you don????????t know if you are able to do it again, normally when this is a on going thing for customers, we just charger the acct off and send it to a 3rd party collections agency and let them handle it, but I have been trying to work with you here, as you can see this acct is way over 30 days past due, fees was suppose to be added and nothing is still changing, and really I wasn????????t suppose to even set up payments as low as 63.12, but I was trying to help. Are you going to pay this acct off or not, if not then I will just send this to a 3rd party collections agency and let them handle this instead of me, because I don????????t want to keep calling and reminding you and you never follow through with this. So let me know, and there is how we got to the bal we go to???????..

Their website is personalcashadvance.com.

Is there any advice for me? Does anyone know if this is legal in SC?

Hi kbraveboy

You agree that you have a loan with One Step Cash. You have committed them your payments on the specified date and have paid it to certain extent. Doing this, the company didn't charge additional fees even after the account got past due. It seems from the mail that the company was working with you.

You need to pay the balance owed for not letting them send the account to the collection agency. It seems that they are giving you the final call this time. Knowing the fact that the collection agencies are the toughest ones to deal with besides being a negative mark in the file, I will suggest you to pay the full balance. You have a debt with them and they have offered you some extensions. Don't avoid the facilities offered by them. It's a suggestion from my side if it sounds well to you.

I got a $300 loan and I have just paid off my balance. So, far I have not encountered any problems. I just tried to logon to OneStepCash.com, but could not find the website. Does anyone have updates as to why the websit does not come up? Please advise.

We borrowed $300 in August 2006. The way I read the agreement (after the fact), the first three payments are for the $90 fee. After that, we would continue to be charged the $90 fee, plus the principal will be reduced by $50 each pay period. Needless to say, it will take six months to pay that amount, plus $1080 in finance charges - no thanks! Here's the phone number I have for "customer service" - (866) 431-2274.

I just got ripped off by these guys too. we took out 300 and paid back four payments of 90 then they told us we still owed 390 and charged that. It cost me 690 all untold. I am contacting the federal trade commision. They are required by the truth in lending act to let this be know up front and their are state limites on interest. That is over 600% interest yearly. We missed no payments it was auto withdrawl. Redic

I went ahead and filed a complaint with the FTC on these guys and am going on to the BBC and Credit Bureau next. I suggest that anyone who has dealt with these crooks do the same http://www.ftc.gov/ and get the word out... BEWARE - Loansharks!
HMM, wonder what their repeat biz is like? :x :x

I am happy to tell you that I have the correct LEGITIMATE address for onestepcash. It is.....

One Step Cash/North American Financial
150 South Highway, Ste C8-526
Pahrump, WV 89048

The North American Financial comes in because onestep called my house one day to remind me of a payment and the representative said she was from North American Financial but the number came up as onestep. My lawyer in Ch 13 got this address, so I know it is legit in order to file CH 13

so does anyone have any suggestions on how to deal with these people once in for all? is the best way to get rid of these people is to pay the 390 up front - all at once? or is there some reasonable way to pay them off without ripped off?

I used them too like 3wks ago, just tried to log on and it had a directory or something. When I called the number from my paperwork the guy said he had never heard of onestepcash and that they had always beeen personalcashadvance. I read to him my paperwork and told him the customer service email also had onestepcash at the end. He didnt know what to say, had never heard of it. Go figure.

Oh, I didnt see all the comments before. When I borrowed from them I paid them back the whole thing at one time so I didnt have any problems. I was shocked to learn that I had to call them and TELL them I wanted to pay the whole amount, otherwise, they were going to just take out $90 which gives you the extension on the regular amount. I told him I didnt need an extension, just take the whole thing. They actually have it in the information they send to you, which I cant believe I took the time to read. Thats what made me call them before it was due and actually request them to take the full amount. I guess because I paid it at once I didnt have any problems. But after the rep told me he had never heard of onestepcash and then reading you guys post, I think Ill go to one of my other guys for some quick cash. Thanks!

One Step Cash actually the only ipdl company that has responded to my AG complaint and immediately marked my account PIF without so much as a fight since I had overpaid them. They did tell me and the AG they would be sending me out a refund but I have never seen it. It was only $15 so I don't really care. I have my PIF letter and that is all that really matters to me. All my emails from them came from addresses at centrinex.com

I checked and their collections are handled through a company called centrix. Centrix is not onestepcash. They are simply contracted to do collections for onestep cash. Because of this, their agents are bound by the Fair Debt Collections Protection Act or fdcpa. One of their agents attempted to get real nasty with me over email, and once I pointed out to her what the law was and that I know what my rights were, her attitude quickly changed. I also had to let her know that her conduct towards me could cause onestepcash to lose any claim to money that I may owe them.
