Is it illegal for creditors to call where you work to try and collect what you owe?

generally no it is not along as they are the original creditor and not a collection agency (these have limitations). That said, you can advise them in writing that you are not allowed personal calls at work and if you provide them another daytime number to reach you at and perhaps an email , most will leave you alone.

Make sure if you are getting calls from creditors or collection agencies? The pattern of calls resembles collection calls. In that case you have the right to tell them not to call you at your work. You can specify time and number they should call on. You can also tell them to communicate through mails only.
