hi... i've received a couple of msgs from a "law office", only that "i" should return the call. i did, then hung up when i heard it was about "an attempt to collect a debt", not sure how to respond, since i'd read a few posts on this site... so how do i respond when i call them back? do i offer my name up front? if the debt is legitimate, do i admit i owe it? or is this a case when you would ask for debt validation, by way of letter? advice would be helpful.

I wouldn't call them back. I don't think it's wise to ever talk to a collection agency over the phone. If you don't know what the bill is about, the next time they call, tell them to send you the details in writing to the address they have on file for you. Say thank you, and hang up.

I would definetly get validation before sending them anything. I would also insist on paying they via US mail or Western Union. DO NOT give them any banking infomation. Don't let them threaten you, they can not send you to jail and will try anything to get you to agree to pay them right away. I have had similar problems and am currenly working on getting them all figured out.

hi... thanks for all your replies and advice... once i get the validation, and it's legit but i can't pay it all, would i then contact someone here for debt considation? can they legally enter into any other methods of collection, such as a judgement, before i receive validation? thanks again.

They would probably was to work with you before it goes to litigation (which costs them and you more). After you have the validation (or before if you want) you can contact T & C (I will PM the info to you) and get a consolidation started. They are the only ones that I have found that will work with payday loan companys and they have come highly recommended from others on this site.
