I live in MI, and on my credit report it states the "Date of last activity" was August 1999, for, this date it is 7 years are these legitimate accounts I can get off my credit report.

Thanks

Denise, what is the status of the account? Is this holding negative remark? What is the date of reporting? If you have a charged-off account which became charged-off in 2001, it is likely to go off of your report in 2008 irrespective of the DOL.

DOL is applicable to SOL of debt collection. Keep us updated.

Check state SOL here. If the time frame is over, you need not pay it legally. But that does not stop collectors calling you.

SOL for credit report is same for all the states, it is regulated by FCRA. The clock starts from the date a derogatory mark enters your report.

Denise, I am assuming this is a negative item on your report. If it is not negative, there is no reason to get it off of your report. If it is a negative item, it should drop off of that credit report after august of 2006. If it is still on in September, you may want to go through the dispute process.
