I have evaded collection for about five years. I Started paying creditors off six months ago and suddenly all have caught up with me now at once. I am in a different state and agreed an offer to settle a debit but now want to counter offer. I accepted their offer, signed and noterized agreement to be filed in utah courts in the event I miss a payment. But I am in colorado. The document is a formal doc. to be filed in the state of utah.
My question is do I still have an option to make a counter offer or am I now commited as I have already made three payments and have agreed to make lum sum pament to pay off debt. Original debt was 3100 hundred dollars , charge account. With collection and interest 18% the debit is now 9800 dollars. The debt is reduced 30% if I make three 150 dollar payments and payoff april 5 of 6500 dollars. Is this acceptable or can I stll make counter offer.
Also can I stipulate that debt is paid in full and reported to reflect good standing with credit bureau ?

It solely depends upon who you are dealing with. As you have signed the agreement and have paid 3 installments already, you are definitely abided by the rules. But if you want to change it, you should contact your creditor first.

Could you explain what the reason is that you are going to modify the agreement? Is there any problem dealing with them? You can definitely request them to update your report as paid or paid in full, but that might charge you a higher payment. Keep us posted.
