Well, I received a response back from the consumer protection office in Delaware regarding the one company that is licensed there and who is not licensed in Ohio. According to their bank commissioner's website, they are licensed there. I thought they were located in the state of Delaware but now I'm not so sure. The letter stated they could only help me if the business was actually located in Delaware but a lot of companies are incorporated there, or something along those lines. All the correpondence I've sent to the PDL company has been to Delaware, and it was a street address, not a po box. Maybe it's just a front? The other one was for a pdl company in Kansas. They said I will need to file the complaint with the consumer protection office in Ohio because that is where the loan originated from and Ohio's state laws would apply to this situation. They sent me some other useful information as well on how to file a better complaint. I'm impressed with that and at least now I know that the loans originate in my state and I have written proof of that from a regulatory agency. I guess that can't be a bad thing. I am still going to file a complaint with the bank commissioners office in Delaware against the PDL company there. A little frustrated but not all bad.

The easiest way to tell whether a legitimate business is located at a specific address is to call the business license and/or personal property tax people for the town/city/county the address is located in. Give them the address and ask them what business names are authorized to do business in their jurisdiction at that address. That's about all they can tell you as a matter of public record. Also, if you've got a business name, you can ask whether such a business has any location at all in their jurisdiction.

Thanks, I will check into that. I know they are licensed in Delaware and I sent my complaint out to the bank commissioner's office in Delaware against them. I will make copies of my complaints and to the same thing for my state. This is enough to make your head spin when you are dealing with pdl companies. :?
