They called reaaaallllly early this am:

800-684-8429

"Thank for you calling card services" sounds like the greeting to Total Card. They handle the customer service to a variety of different credit cards. Rewards 660 and South Plains are two that I can think of off of the top of my head that use that same greeting.

If you're not having any luck getting through to someone at that 800#, you can try 605-977-1813.

Regards-
Mike

sorry for the duplicate entry, but apparently the system didn't log me in the first time.

That number is HSBC, formerly Household Bank. It is just their collection department and not an agency. I haven't had a bad experience with them, and while they can be a little pushy when it comes to getting your account current again, they actually are helpful when it comes to helping to bring your account current.

If you are receiving calls from them and know you have no debt with them, what they're probably doing is something called skip tracing: they've lost contact with a debtor and no longer have a good phone number, so they start looking for phone numbers belonging to people with similar names/last names.

If they call acting like you're the debtor or this is their number, know that this is what they're trained to do. Supposedly, acting this way will put the actual debtor off guard and trap them into the call.

If you are not the debtor they're looking for, hold your ground and tell them that you are not so-and-so, you do not and have never known so-and-so, and you want your number taken off their calling list. They have to do this, even if they think you're lying for whatever reason.

If you still have problems, just Google HSBC Bank, and their global and US sites should be the top two links. On the US site, there is a Contact Us link above the Online account access box on the right hand side. It includes the customer service line and mailing address for HSBC Bank.

As a more personal note, I had to deal with NCO Financial Systems this morning when they tried calling my cell looking for someone else (and actually, the automated message was severely misleading about the purpose of the call), and a person on another forum said NCO called them from 800-684-8429.
