We are working with T&C, but some military-only lending companies have told us they will not work with a debt consolidation company. Even though it means they get all of their money, it just takes a little bit longer.

Creditors contacting your command can be a bad thing, depending on what phone number they have. You can send them letters/ faxes stating that you do not desire being contacted at your command, and they have to respect your request.
Most military only lenders (OMNI, Pioneer, USAA) will not take payments from a dmp. These clowns can be relentless in thier practices of getting you to pay up. When they call on one of my sailors, I find ways to help them out. If you are in the Navy/Marine Corps try NMCRS, Army i believe is Army Emergency Relief and Airforce is the Air Force Aid Society. All of these places are there to help you in a time of need. They rely mostly on donations from your shipmates (or whatever your branch calls them.)
Be open and honest with your COC as this will help you out in the long run.
If you need any assistance/ further info, get back to me and I will do what I can.

Doc has great advice and I can also add for enlisted sailors perhaps going to the Command Master Chief--who could at least steer them in the right direction. Family members of sailors attached to seagoing commands could probably also contact the ship's ombudsman for assistance.
I can remember getting a call from the ombudsman on my husband's last submarine when they were deployed, regarding the family of one of the sailors in his section (he was Leading Petty Officer). We worked to get this family to the right resources that would help them financially, and hopefully, we made a difference.
The upshot is to not be scared by these PDL people as they are all scum. Even though you are in uniform, you did not check your rights at the door!
