Collection Agency Not Paying

Why does the collection agency need to pay you...did you overpay? If you made a settlement for less than the amount owed, then overpaid...you probably won't get the money back. They can actually keep it I think since you actually owed more than the settlement. Do you have proof of the settlement offer, and proof that you paid?

Yana, do you mean that your debt settlement company hasn't paid your debt? I am a little bit confused as well. If you clarify your problem, someone on this board will most likely be able to help you out.

Yana, are you a business owner and hired a collection agency to collect your debts? Now the collection agency is not paying you back, am I right? Or you wanted to say something else.

I am a business owner and we hired a collection agency to collect debt from another company on behalf of us in 2000. Now the collection company has stopped mailing our part of the payment they receive. Please advice.

If you have a contract with these people and they are not paying you, then you can definately sue them. Depending on your contract and your relationship with the company, you may be able to file criminal charges. I would contact the AG office in your state or consult an attorney, they would know better what to do. There are instances where it can be considered embesslement (spelling?). I worked for a doctor who used someone to do collections for him, and they cashed a couple of checks that were in the thousands of dollars, and they took the money. He was able to press charges against them for theft.
