What to do When you don't have a clue?

What do you do when uou see something on your credit report that you know nothing about and you try to contact the company but they are out of business? I believe me XXXXXXXXXXXX went and got some furniture in OUR name when I left him. He had it bad going around getting things in our name as we were married and we were not. On my credit report is shows open account sold to another???? or something like that. Does this mean that it was paid or what? The furniture company has been out of business. When I called the number on the report it is another company and when I call in the directory that company does not ex :( ist. I haven't really gotten it down pack how to read some of these things on the credit report. There are a few more items I have questions and concerns about also. :|[color=darkred][/color]
