Can someone please advise me what may help my raise my FICO score and look better on my credit reports? I am in the process of settling some credit card accounts and am also in the position to pay off a few credit cards completely. If I pay off a few of the credit card accounts in full that have some negative payment history on them and bring the balance to zero would that hurt my credit? I am not sure whether or not it is better to have a few accounts showing that I am still making monthly payments that are current now, OR to pay in full and close those accounts that had past negative payment information. Any advice is appreciated.

I have been working with a Credit repair called Lexington Law Firm. They are a low cost credit repair that fights to erase bad marks on your report- thus improving your score. The cost is $99 to start and $59 or $39 depending on the level of service each month. They have been great, I have been referred to them by two different people they have worked well for. They get rid of marks like late payments, charges offs, etc. I have only been with them a few months but so far they have worked well for me and I am happy.
Just a Suggestion.

I have worked with them for three years. They tried to get bad stuff off, but it hasn't helped. Hope someone else has good luck.

What hasn't worked with lexington law? Does the information get removed and then reappear on the credit reports? would you recommend them?

ACCURATE information is not going to get removed from your credit report other than in time.

IF accurate info is removed and then found out to be accurate, it will be replaced on your reports.

Inaccurate information is easy to get removed and you don't have to pay money to do it.

Jessi is right. Accurate negative information cannot be removed from your report. There are agencies that promise to get them off and charge for the service. However, there is a chance of getting the items re-inserted too.

Many of the members of this board have already repaired their credit successfully with the active help of others here in this forum. You can also try it.
