technically the creditor stays on your credit report for 7 years
technically the creditor stays on your credit report for 7 years but there is more to it than that- statute of limitations on the debt according to your state, whether the creditor sells the debt to a collection agency. And some companies (like mortgage companies) will go back 10 years for a credit report. So there isn't a real yes/ no answer.

According to FCRA, negative items go off of your report after 7 years from the date it went delinquent. Could you please explain what your problem is? Is there any negative item on your credit report?
