Good morning everyone!! I just love this forum, thank you to all that have been there to listen and help!!

Now onto the more serious stuff. Back in August of last year I lost my father very suddenly and unexpected. Being his only child and him not having any life insurance, it left me in quite a bind. I ended up taking out what seems like a "bazillion" payday loans to pool together to come up with the money for the funeral and other expenses. I was off of work for quite some time, dealing with my own grief, but also helping out my grandmother (my dad's mother) get through this. So as you can guess, being off of work, I didn't have the money to pay back the loans.

That's where I need some help. I tried to make payment arrangements with the companies, but they just keep tacking on interest and I will never get them paid off. I live in Michigan and would really like to find a consolidation company in my area that are easy to work with and not too harsh with their fees. I have tried Greenpath and also a local agency, but they both want me to pay an arm and a leg tacked on to what I already ow, and that's just impossible. I can't go month to month not having some money in my pocket, I do have a family to think of.

Ah yes, the end of my story. So if anyone out there knows of any good, legit, nice companies in my area, please oh please, pass them along, I am desperate to get this going before my wages are garnished or anything drastic like that. Thank you all in advance for your help and/or advice.

angel,

I'm very sorry for the loss of your father. My condolences to your family.

it isn't in your area, but have you contacted T&C? They do work with payday loan companies, and are reputable.

Also, are the loans for storefront, or internet companies? There can be a big difference if the companies are internet, because Michigan requires licensing AND I bet the internet companies aren't licensed in your state.

Thank you for your sympathy!
I haven't contacted T&C because I was told that they aren't for my area. Some of the companies are internet co, but some of the debts that I want to pay off are local. I need to find a place that is reputable in my area!!

I thought there were other members here, that are residents of Michigan, that are using T&C?

Angel, there are several example letters here in the forums to send to the internet companies, stating that they aren't licensed in your state so the contract is basically void. It doesn't hurt to send those to the companies, and that might help ease your situation a little so you can focus on repaying the storefront lenders.

T & C is a nationwide company. i live in NJ and I am signed up with them. They are really nice and wonderful and they will not take any crap. Since You live in MI, Pollyandsay may be able to help you find out if your payday loans are legal.

I thank you all very much for getting back to me. I have been in contact with Pollyandsay she is helping me with another problem that I have.
So T&C is for any state except NC.....? That is good to know, I just may have to give them a call. Do they cost a fortune and to they work with the amount of money that you can afford?
