I just received this call, of course from a rude man, named Max Reins. He was foreign and I'm guessing he's calling from one of the Ellis Crosby co's, maybe Interstate Wire. I asked him who he is calling from and he says United Federal Bank. He told me he was not a collection company. I told him to send me something in the mail and he told me he will be at my address serving me papers. I know this is all bogus, but I want to send a cease and desist letter to them ASAP - they are crazy! Plus they say I owe $200 over the loan amount so I know this is an Ellis Crosby scam.

Remember, do not send any money to companies making illegitimate calls. The fdcpa law states that when a collection agency is attempting collections, all the details of the debt should be given in writing. If you have not received anything in the mail, you can send a debt validation letter. If the company does not abide by the law, report them to the FTC, BBB as well as the local attorney general office. A copy of it can be sent to the credit bureau also requesting investigation. Your actions will stop the company from making any calls to you further.

I read this thread, but I still don't understand who the company is, nor will they tell me who they are. They just tell me they work for United Federal Bank, which I know is not the case. I even asked if they were a collection agency and they said no, but I know they are.
