Below the listing, under Account History, it says "Charge Off as of July 2003".
(The acct was paid in full and they released a clear title to me in 2003.)
I went in to dispute the item, but got a pop up on screen that read " The account is already noted as Paid in full.
SOOOOOOO- why would it say charged off...should I worry? Call Experian and talk to them by phone???

Hi Texasgal,
Do you mind telling us, before you made the full payment, did this account actually go to the charged off status. If so, this is negative information and will appear in your file even though you have paid the account in full.
Or, if the information has been entered incorrectly in your file, place a dispute with the bureau reporting it. They will fix it after doing proper investigations.

Thats what happened to me. My truck payment was late but I had called and talked to them about it and let them know what was going on. It was my last payment. I made it. That was that, or so I thought. Then I started gathering my credit reports and paying more close attention to what was going on with them (to help me get out of this financial train wreck that I'm in), and noticed that the loan company that my truck was through, did a charge off!!!????but then showed that it was a paid charge off!!??? I have been fighting it forever but it looks like they have won on this. The last payment was late, real late. The payment was due at the end of November and I made it at the beginning of january. But I never knew anything about a charge off until over a year later when I saw it on my credit report. That was news to me. I thought it had to be later than that for them to do a charge off. It was also my last payment. seems like they could have held off, knowing surely I was going to make the very last payment after an excellent FIVE year history, so I could get my title.
so I was just saying, the same thing happened to me.

The payment was 30 days late becasue of a job lay-off, but I called and made arrangements with them and paid on the agreed upon date.

You definitely need to contact Experian and find out what is going on. This kind of stuff can hurt your credit score which stinks. I have a fraud on my credit report and it brought my score way down because it was 'late' and 'very high in balance' and 'delinquent'. This kind of stuff should not be on your report...:)
