unknown collection companies

I have some collections on my credit report and would like to pay these off but don't know how to contact the company. My credit report only list them by number (serial?) or name with no address or phone number. How do I find the info. I need? Thanks

Follow the suggestion given by LessIsMore. The credit reporting agency must give you the necessary information regarding your creditors, collection agencies.

You can also request the info in writing so that you have proof of records. Send your letter through certified mail with return receipt requested.
