(I hope I have not already asked this before)
Since I am enrolled in a debt settlement company, most of my accts has went to a CA. Ok.
What if my debt settlement program settles with the CA and then years later the original creditor says I STILL owe them? or vice versa, the company settles with the original creditor and the then years later the CA says I STILL owe them.
Or better yet...say the CA has my acct and it it collecting all this interest and stuff...and my settlement company settles with original creditor and then the CA tells me I owe them some money as well from when they had it. Is this possible?
Or would the proof of settlement letter be enough for my verification that I do not owe any more money?
What if the company does not send a verification letter of settlement, because they are mad???
a proof of settlement letter should be all you need. if you d
a proof of settlement letter should be all you need.
if you dont have that, any record which shows that you have fully paid off your debt is enough. if the CA or the original creditor says its wrong or invalid, then you simply ask them you simply ask them to supply proof of you owing debt.
once you have that proof, you cross reference it with any records you have and go from there.
by the way, the company MUST send a verification letter or something....anything, to show that you are done with your debt.

The collection agency should update your account with the bureau after the account is paid. The copy of your credit report will also be an important proof that the account has been paid and you owe nothing.
If any company tries to change the records in your file, you will have a case against them. Keep all proof of your payments in a document for records
you could even counter sue them for forgery or some other charge
you could even counter sue them for forgery or some other charge. im sure a lawyer could find a ton of charges for that.
As long as you keep good records, I'm sure you will be just fine
As long as you keep good records, I'm sure you will be just fine. It is a good question though, it is important to watch your back in these situations. Keep any letters you receive, and keep any stubs from money orders that you send, and send everything certified mail!
