So it's been a while for me, I though everything was fine and dandy and that these people wouldn't be bothering me anymore. But low and behold, I received a phone call from a Mr. Frank Miller again, telling me that my file was being downloaded and that they would be here in 15 minutes to get me! I know they aren't a legit company, but it still scares :? a person to hear this. I told him that I already had a payment plan with the company that I owe the money to and that they told me that United Federal was just scamming people to get money because they were fired from collecting legitimately.

It's just getting frustrating. They call me at work, get me all frazzled. It was so bad this morning that a friend of mine at my office got on the phone with him and just told him to leave me be and hung up. Is there no way of getting them to leave me alone? I don't want to get in trouble at work!!

Please any help would be great!! Thanks everyone!!

Have you sent them a cease and desist letter? If so, they are in strict violation of it. They can't send anyone to your place of employment to have you arrested, they are the ones in the wrong for harassing you especially with you having arrangements with the OC. This is one of many scare tactics they are famous for using. They have in their beady little pea brained minds that if they scare people, they will pay immediately. I would file a complaint with the attorney general in your state and the consumer affairs department in your state about this company. Have all documentation ready to include in your complaints. I would also file against them with the FTC and the BBB. Don't let them get you scared. I know it is easier said than done.

Brat~
They are very adement in not giving me any information involving their so called company. I asked for their address and he said no, they couldn't give that info out. I even asked to have a letter sent to me to show what the debt is for and he told me that I should know seeing that it's my debt. I have already filed a complaint with the FTC on Jacobi and Meyers, and what's funny is that the man that calls me, is the name of the "supervisor" from Jacobi....they are all tied together I am willing to bet.

Based on other threads it would appear that United federal bank, interstate wire compliance bureau and Jacobi & myers are all the same. File a complaint with your state AG and if your state licenses CA's file a complaint with that agency as well. (Note sone states have differenct requirements or lack thereof for instate and out of state collectors. Next time they call inform them that you are recording the call and that you are have filed complaints with (list agencies).

angel,

do like jj said and record the phone call. Check your state law regarding recording converations. I will look through the forums and see if I can find an address for them. Be stern with them and don't let them know they are getting to you. They seem to feed off of people being scared.

Hello, these folks have been contacting me, too! In fact, there is another thread under "United Federal Bank." They have contacted me repeatedly at work after I told them not to call me at work, and told them I have a payment arrangement set up....they persist in calling, and from all different numbers, I have been called from a number in New Jersey (908-212-3726) and Florida (561-210-5357). Using the address you found in BBB.org, I filed a complaint with the BBB and the Florida Attorney General's office. I am also going to file a complaint with my state's Attorney General's office as well. And I am going to send a cease and desist letter to the address, even though I am not sure that is where they are physically located. With the limited English skills these folks possess, I wouldn't doubt that they were calling from another country! Take action and do not be their victim...they are scam artists. Remember, you have the power, not them!! Blessings, Melissa

JJ~
So I should get in contact with someone at my state's AG office? And who do I contact from there?

Brat~
I would love to send them a letter. I just wish that I had information on them. I sent a certified letter to Jacobi a while back, they signed for it, but I haven't heard anything since. I don't even know if it was the right place or not and they were in Wyoming. The number that this Frank Miller is calling from now is a New Jersey area code.

When I contacted the original collection agency for this debt, they told me that Platinum B was a customer of theirs in the past, but aren't any longer. There is no listing for United Federal Bank. It's just frusturating!! EEK!!

I received another call from a unknown co. representing united federal bank. They wouldnt tell me who they were just that again I was going to be processed @2pm that day. I told them like I have told you people before Do not call my place of employment and I would like there address. Of course they wont give you any information. I told them well I have given all your names and phone numbers to my attorney and he is in contact with the state attorneys office and they will be in touch with him. He told told me I dont have to listen to your rigermarall(spelling??) and you will be taken away in handcuffs. So I had to reply " oh good I like to be handcuffed" and then he hung up. First time I smiled after one of those phone calls!!!

I would really laugh on getting such calls. If the person calls you again, ask him to prove the charges first before he sends someone to handcuff you? Without proof, no actions can be termed legal. If you have a legitimate debt, the company needs to send you the details before you pay anything. The companies use these scare tactics to make people pay them. Don't fear of such calls. If you have an attorney, take his advice.

Hi, Tippy. I noticed you referred to an address for United Federal Bank on the BBB.org website. I am fairly new to this and desperately need to send a ceast and desist letter to these people. Do you have their address or can you tell me what I look under to find it? Thanks.

jt323, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau against United Federal Bank, using the address informaiton on the bbb.org website. It must be bogus information, because they responded to me that the information wasn't sufficient for them to proceed. Oh well...by the way, the last time these clowns called me (I believe it was Mr. Friedman), I told them that when they call me they are calling on a federal government telephone and that all calls are recorded....ironically, they haven't called me since! Good luck and blessings, Melissa
