I heard from the Attorney Generals office in Illinois today and they are requesting a formal statement from the harasssment we received from John Smith. I hope this is a good sign. After I get done filing out the statement, I have to get it notarized and mailed back ASAP. Could this be the starting of the end for 1st Credit of America?

Brat, I certainly hope it means the end for those charlatans. My husband and I brought them to the attention of Lisa Madigan last summer when some oaf called him to collect on a bogus account, blowing off the fdcpa in the process. He got his money back from them and that was the end of it. Since I've found this forum I've read horror stories about this agency that make my husband's experience sound like much ado about nothing. The latest complaint being from MRevelle82 stating that they made up a false account that would really stand to turn her against her husband. If they would stoop so low as to try and break up a family just to make a buck, then they must pay the ultimate price.

By any chance their toll free number be 800 852-9465? If so, I've received three calls from them, but they've always left messages because I don't answer calls I don't know. I am wondering if they are the same people. Can someone clarify this for me?
