IRS and taxes...

Ok this is kinda complicated but i wanna know if anyone has EVER heard of such a thing! My daughter and her hubby went to Jackson Hewitt in April to file their taxes. They had a baby back in October and didnt' have a copy of her SS# so JH told daughter to go to SS office and get a card for the baby... She did, but it was gonna take 7 to 10 days to come in and it put them past the 15th. JH got them so sign all the forms and told them they would just send it off as soon as they got the SS#. Well 4 months go by and they never got their refund! She called JH and they said she must call the IRS. She calls IRS and they say their taxes have NEVER been filed!! WTH??
So, now here we are in October and she's gonna go to my tax man on Wednesday to re-do her taxes!!
Now my question is, didn't JH break a contract with them?? I mean what if they had owed Uncle Sam?? They could be in deep trouble if that were the case!
I told her from the beginning NOT to go there but do they ever listen?? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Neither have i fins. That's why i told her NOT to go there! They do have their copies of the return but they aren't being charged any fees by IRS since they are due a refund but still seems wrong to me.... JH agreed to do their taxes and didn't! But i also asked her if they paid them and she said they were gonna take it outta her taxes. (which means they signed their taxes over to them, now why in the hell would u do that???)
