I have been getting phone calls from allied interstate saying that I owe money to Sprint PCS. This has been happening everyday. When I tried to call the number, no one answered.

What should I do?
I am thinking about getting a lawyer.

Hi newsgirl

Welcome to the forums.

Next time when people from Allied Interstate call you, inform them that the call is being recorded and you wish to give it to your attorney. Also record the date and time of the calls made.

You can also send a cease and desist letter to the company notifying to stop all collection efforts. Ask them to validate the debt showing the total amount of debt with proper calculation of interests. They also need to show a copy of the agreement letter stating that the creditor has assigned this collection agency to collect the debt from you. They have to be licensed in your state before they can collect the debt from you.

If the debt is not validated and they keep calling you, it is a violation of the fdcpa law under section 809 ( 8 ) and you can take legal actions against them.

Make sure that you send all your correspondence through certified mail with return receipt requested. This will help you to keep a record of all the communication made with them on the mentioned dates.
