ASG members have been calling me for about 3 weeks now looking for either me or my aunt. Well I am only 22 and I am in college. I have no bills that are overdue or that could be in collections. I have student loans but called the bank and they said i was in no trouble with them. My aunt and I arent even attached to anything together that could be sent to collections. The person that kept calling me was Paul. He was very rude, would never tell me what this was in reference to and when I told him to stop calling he still did. Also know he says that he is going to make the decision to get back to my supposedly creditor and discuss further actions. If I do not have any bills in collection how can they be discussing further action??? Any suggestions anyone.

first of all, did you identify yourself as the person they are trying to reach? i have never heard of asg, but if they are a collection agency - they must identify they are speaking to the debtor, then identify themselves. if you do not id yourself as the person they are trying to contact, they are not allowed to disclose the matter at hand. maybe that's why he never disclosed what the call was about? however, if that is the case, he never should have mentioned anything about getting back to the creditor and discussing further actions. this doesn't add up. while i'm not going to act like almost all debt evaders and start claiming this company is doing anything illegal, i will say the actions of this person are questionable. if he calls again ask to verify the social security number they have on file. also verify the address. i suggest you identify yourself properly and then get as much information from him that is possible.

It is not your debt, but it certainly is becoming a problem for you. You know Jonna collection agencies bully and harass innocent consumers into paying debts they never owed. So, do not fall into this trap. Now you have the address and a telephone number of this agency, so immediately send them a certified cease and desist letter with a return receipt requested. Notify them in your letter that you do not owe the debt and they have contacted the wrong person. Mention very clearly in your letter that you do not want to be called again.

If the collector does not stop calling you even after receiving the letter then seek help from the attorney general. You can also complain to the Federal Trade Commission

I recently received a couple calls from ASG Account Solultions Group. They told me I was responsible for a my wife's account ( I am not married), that they would put a lien on my house, that they could garnish wages, that the account would be sent back to the bank immediately for these actions if I did not make payment arrangements.

Funny.

After two days of this crap ( the calls were made to the office line in my home which states this is a law firm)I decided to confront their bull. I may post the recording just so you all can hear it what it is like for a debt collector to get nervous.

Instead of a cease and desist letter they will be getting a notice of claim with a demand for payment to me attached. I can only conclude either ASG does not train its collectors or they lack higher intelligence.
