Can you tell me what an average FICO score would be?

So is 570 horrible?
or is it not low, butlower than average? I have several 'charge off's on my report but all by original creditors only. Am dealing with several collection agencies but only one collection agency is on report and its showing that they're being paid. was just curious as to how all of this is looked at by 'potential' debtor when pulling report. thanks, shirley

You have mentioned in your post that your credit record contains several charge-off and one in collection. Let me tell you that no financer would like these marks in credit report.

Charge-offs stay in your report for 7 years. However once your accounts are paid, it will be marked as Paid charge-off which is comparatively better.

You can request the collection agencies that hold your other accounts, to report them in your favor so that your score is not damaged.

Also go through the link below to know how to raise your credit score. You can do it yourself-

Hope it helps. Feel free to ask your queries in forums :)

leah,

According to the article mentioned by Bryan, ???693' falls under good credit score category. Getting a loan with this score won't be difficult and you will be offered easy rate of interest too. Please go through the Credit Score article for more information.

Credit scores are only part of the equation. A big part nonetheless. But, time since the negative actions affects things too. Also, especially if you have negative items on your credit report that are 4-5 years old you may request the credit bureaus to investigate. You may get lucky and the companies will not verify the info because it is old and the credit bureaus may delete the negative items, thus raising your score.
