CRAP my bank paid one of my PDLS last night-HELP

Ok on the great side one of my very bad PDLS' is PIF. ON the other hand, due to that check and a couple of smaller items, along with NSF fees, in the past 3 days, my checking account is almost 1100, in the red...Now I do have another checking account with another bank, so I have a couple of questions here. I checked with my bank yesterday when the situation was only so bad, and was told I would have 30 days to bring it back into the black, before it would be closed. Now today, I'm thinking that's not going to happen since I'm up so high now. So, what will happen will they allow me to make payments, send me to collections what? Will my other checking account be in any danger?


i was just asking because if you try to explain the situation they might be able to work something out with you.i know from experience that some banks are tough to deal with once an account goes red.talk to the manager face to face.that should get you a favorable solution.

lmale, take Paul's advice and go talk to them. I worked for The Ohio Bank and Sky Bank years ago (they are now Huntington Bank) and I know that if someone went and talked to the manager at the branch I worked at, they would make payment arrangements with them. Now that might have changed since all of the mergers but it is worth a shot.

i banked with national city and at first they
were hard,then came around after awhile.

I work for National city myself and can tell you that the best thing to do is to contact the branch manager. Every branch has a level of profitablitly they have to meet and charging off checking accounts really hurts them. Just be honest and explain your situation. More than likely they will have to close your account but you may be able to prevent it from going to a collection agency. Because it was a real check disputing it is out of the picture. I would also contact the manager of your other bank to make explain that you are in the process of taking care of your situation and to make sure your other checking account will remain safe. It's a lot of work I know and a lot of embarrasment but better than the consequences of just letting it go.

I can understand why you would say that goudah but I personally just feel that honesty and facing up to the situations you've created for yourself are the best way to deal with them. Sure that manager may decide to close the account but a lot of banks also do random checks with chexsystems and if his negative account is reported than they may just close the other account anyways. Worse case scenario is that both of the accounts will get closed and you may have to either look into a financial institution who does not check with chexsystems or even considering one of the reloadable debit card programs. Just my opinion but to each his/her own.

no i didn't have a valid reason to stop pmt, my checking acct was already over drawn the day before due to something else my bank paid, that I thougth I had canceled, only to find out I didn't...I was just suprised they would pay a check when I was already in the red...

Depends on your overdraft protection amount on your account. Some have 300 dollars, some have 1000 and some have none...or an amount in between. You probably have a pretty high OD protection and that is why they paid it. You can dispute the item that you thought you stopped. That is what I did. I had written an actual check to our storage. I wrote 3 in advance because the drive to our storage is about 45 minutes away and I didn't want to keep driving that far to give it to them. I have been doing this for 2 years now. Somehow she went ahead and deposited a check 2 weeks early, and the bank paid it even though it was a postdated check. I disputed it and the bank refunded me the money adn refunded me the overdraft fees. I bank with Woodforest. They are GREAT. My husband's direct deposit didn't get in our account one week on Friday like it is supposed to, and it went in on Monday. We had things that hit that caused OD fees and they refunded them to us after I explained to them what happened.
